Good News!

I had personally visited SriDham SriAngan, Bakchar Sri-Angan and Brahmankanda Angina in Faridpur and SriSri Prabhu Jagadbandhu Mahaprakash Math in Dhaka during February 5-10, 2001. I had also personally visited Rambagan and Maniktala Mahaudhdharan Math, Raghunathpur Mahanam Angan and SriSri Prabhubandhu Mandir (Thakurpukur) in Calcutta and Barasat SriSri Jagadbandhu Ashram during January/February 2001. I had taken many pictures of all these sites. Our web site had been considerably upgraded with these pictures and other textual materials. In fact, a completely new web site:

http://home.att.net/~haripurush-jagadbandhu/faridpur-sriangan.htm

is designed and put up to highlight the above-mentioned Mahanam Sampraday Centers in Faridpur and Dhaka. The web site has extensive pictures and their textual documentation. The intent of these pictures is to give the browsers of the web site a live flavor and a close touch of all the centers that I had the opportunities to visit. The site is about 8 MB in size already and will soon grow to its maximum size of 10 MB. However this site uses links and materials from other Mahanam Sampraday web sites developed and maintained by us. Please browse at your leisure to visit the above Prabhu Jagadbandhu center and be a part of the pictorial tour of the same.

Our primary site:

http://home.att.net/~pbdas

has been primarily upgraded on the following two links:

http://home.att.net/~pbdas/www.Prabhu-Jagadbandhu.org/HTML-Texts/mahanam-granthabali.html
[Publications of Mahanam Books and Tapes]
http://home.att.net/~pbdas/www.Prabhu-Jagadbandhu.org/HTML-Texts/mahanam-sampraday-book-stores.html
[Mahanam Sampraday Bookstores/Centers]

The first link above contains text materials from the books by late Prof. Kunja Lal Datta and Prof. Sukhendu Shekhar Dutta. Please click on the coverage pages of the two books for the table of contents of the first book and then choose to read any item, and for the second book by Prof. S.K. Dutta, please read directly about Jagadbandhusundar's "Great Death" ("Maha-Mrityu" or "Trayodash Dasha").

The second link above is the gateway to all the individual temples and centers of Prabhu Jagadbandhu. Just click on any link to go to the individual site. After visiting Dhaka and Faridpur Center, I added the newest center in Barisal named "SriSri Prabhu Jagadbandhu-Mahanambrata Karunangan" in this section.

Also the screens:

http://home.att.net/~pbdas/home1.html [Web pages with minimal graphics]
http://home.att.net/~pbdas/home2.html [Web Pages with full graphics]

have both been made more dynamic with flashing headings and logos by using java applets. Previously these screens looked as if they were neglected in terms of design.

The other sites for Prabhu Jagadbandhu that I have developed are:

http://hometown.aol.com/pbdas/www.Prabhu-Jagadbandhu.org/HTML-Texts and
http://home.att.net/~barasat-ashram/mainpage.htm

However all these sites are accessible through our primary site as indicated above.

All of these sites are indexed by the primary web search engines and searchable on the web/internet by the keyword "jagadbandhu" and many other words used in the set of these web sites. In fact, 'Google' (http://www.google.com) has indexed our sites almost word by word. Please try to search our site by using one or more of the major search engines (including the meta search engines like www.metacrawler.com or www.dogpile.com or www.alltheweb.com)

Past events (2000 and 2001):

New York Mahanam Sevak Sangha members had very successfully participated for the first time in a continuous "Udayasta" (sunrise to sunset) Harinam Sankirtan in a Hindu temple at Jackson Heights in Queens in a one-hour time slot on Sunday, June 3, 2001.

New York Mahanam Sevak Sangha members successfully celebrated Prabhu Jagadbandhu's Birth Day in New Jersey in the month of May. The exact date and the schedule for the program will be posted here soon.

New York Mahanam Sevak Sangha members and patrons celebrated "Gour-Purnima" Utsav at Satya Narayan Mandir on 75-15 Woodside Ave, Elmhurst, New York 11373 on Saturday, March 17, 2001. This celebration was the first of its kind for our Sangha in the sense that the program was housed in a very renowned community temple in the Jackson Heights area of Queens, New York. The program had exceeded the expectation of New York Mahanam Sevak Sangha members in terms of the overall success of the "Gour-Purnima Utsav" celebration. The rental expense of the temple was well compensated for by the generous donations of the attendees. The program highlight comprised of Guru Bandana, Mahanam Kirtan, Bhajan/Bhaktigeet, Geeta Paath, Chaitanya-Charitamrita Paath and Gour Katha in compliance of the schedule. The later part consisted of Alochana (Questions, Discussion, Opinion, Comments ... ), Aaroti and Prasad Distribution. New York Mahanam Sevak Sangha wished to hold more of their utsavs in renowned community temples in the future in an effort to reach out more devotees of a diverse religious spectrum in New York and its contiguous states.

"SriMon Mahanambrata Janma Utsav" (Birth Anniversary) celebrated on Monday, December 25, 2000 at 82-22 266th Street, Floral Park, New York 11004, was a grand success. New York Mahanam Sevak Sangha members and their guests took part in the program closely following each and every item of the Program Schedule.

Guru Bandana, Chandrapat Kirtan/Mahanam Kirtan, Harikatha Paath/Bhajan/Bhaktigeet, SriMon Mahanambrata Jiban-Alekhyya (life-sketch), Geeta Paath, and Bhajan/Kirtan/SriMon Mahanambrata Katha were mainstream of the program. Sri Parikshit Majumder (fondly known amongst the close friend circle as "Kaizer") sang a Bhajan/Bhaktigeet.

2:30 - 4:30 ..........

Sri Mahanambrata Katha presented by Syamal Banik.

Topic: "Bhagabad Gita - its Teachings as reflected on the lives of great personalities/Saints and Srimon Mahanambrata Brahmachari"

This two hour very lively, spellbound, easy to follow and interest creating discussion was enjoyed to the very end by each and every one present including quite a few second generation youths.

After explaining the significance of this kind of gathering (Sat-Sangha) for "Bhagabati Katha" he started with a point by point discussion on speciality and uniqueness of Bhagabad Gita compared to other scriptures.

Then he explained and discussed a few selected Mantras (Slokas) from different chapters of Bhagabad Gita. Taking one Mantra (Sloka) at a time, he explained the meaning of it, discussed the teachings in it, reflection and influence of it on the lives of great personalities/saints (specifically Srimon Mahanambrata Brahmachari) and how we, the common people, can follow and implement those teachings in our day-to-day life following the footsteps of great personalities/saints (specifically Srimon Mahanambrata Brahmachari). In the discussion of one of the Mantras/Slokas, he successfully highlighted the acute problems/confusions faced by Indian descendant second generation youths/adults in the west and suggested solutions of some of those problems/confusions following (and implementing)the teachings of that Mantra/Sloka.

Also, he gave an account of opinion/comments about the life, work and philosophy of Mahanambrata Brahmachari by contemporary great personalities/Saints like Srimat Sitaramdas Onkarnath, Srimat Shivananda Giri, Swami Nityananda and so on.

Then he narrated Srimon Mahanambrata Brahmachari's quite a few advices/messages for devotees and common people like us to follow.

At the end, on behalf of Mahanam Sevak Sangha, he expressed the determination of carrying out to complete the unfinished "Karma-Yajna", started by Srimon Mahanambrata Brahmachari following his footsteps (life, work and philosophy) and invited the congregation and each and every member of Mahanam Sevak Sangha to come forward with their full potential to join this world-saving sacred duty ("Karma-Yajna").

4:30 ..........

Srimati Keya (Lilac) Das did the recitation of the Monologue (A Prayer), written by Mahanambrata Bramhachari in Bengali while he attended the World Fellowship of Faiths, held in Chicago and received a Ph.D. from the University of Chicago during the period of 1933 -1939.

Sri Parikshit Majumder transformed the Monologue (Prayer) into a song of faith by discovering his own tune for it and transcended the conclusion of the SriSri Mahanambrata Smaran-Utsav into an atmosphere of unadulterated faith and devotion to the members and attendees.

The original monologue in Bengali written by Dr. Mahanambrata Brahmachari and also the English translation of the same by Prof. Sukhendu Shekhar Dutta are posted in our web site and are available for viewing and printing.

5:00 - 5:30 ..........

As the mainstream of the Utsav concluded at the end of the Aaroti, the program was followed by questions, discussions and comments. Finally all the attendees enjoyed a sumptuous Bhog, which was graciously prepared and provided by the host and a few other devotee families.

The members and the attendees, including our new generation group of children, teens and young adults, all appreciated the overall events and contributed to the Ustav in one way or the other.

Sri Mahanambrata Smaran-Utsav (Memorial) held on the Christmas Day of 1999 at Floral Park was performed exactly as it was planned and scheduled with proper attention and accuracy to each item. We felt that our late Gurudev on his 95th birthday blessed us all as we conducted our program item by item. This Memorial Festival was significant at the advent of the new century and the upcoming new millennium. The brahmacharis of Mahanam Sampraday and bhaktas (devotees) of Mahanam Sevak Sangha will carry on with the preachings, religious beliefs and philosophy of the triad of Lord Krishna, Sri Chaitanya and Prabhu Jagadbandhusundar into the new century and millennium, generation after generation. Sri Sri Mahanambrata Brahmachari, descendant of Sri SriPad Mahendraji, carried out all these deeds during the entire twentieth century with his ocean of learning, fathomless wisdom and ceaselss endeavor.

The Mahanambrata Memorial Festival of December 25, 1999 celebrated by New York Mahanam Sevak Sangha calls for special mention. The details of this festival (including members participation) will be posted soon in this section and will be kept for some time in red color for the patrons to view as current news.
